Education Systems

Throughout education systems across the nation there are many different set backs within each school. For instance the teachers actual skill in getting the information across to students. There are some teachers that I question, "Why did you get hired?" They think they're doing everything correctly and exceeding in their job, but the students think otherwise. There are teachers that will dedicate all their time to each student to make sure everyone is successful, and then you have the lazy, boring, and unenthusiastic teachers who just seem to hate their job. If I were a teacher, and knew that a child had to sit at a desk for 90 minutes, I would make it as entertaining as possible.  I just can't stand the teachers that don't like what they do. I have to be with you for a whole year and I don't want to take a bad grade when it's not my fault.

Some strengths in public education are the students. Yes, every school has their kids who just don't try, but then you have those that excel and are striving for something. When you are given a lazy teacher who doesn't care, some students actually take charge and begin to help other students be successful as well. They would hate to see such a bright student not getting the grade he or she deserves, it's not fair. Each children are beginning to step up and take control and learn how to be successful on their own.

War in Reverse/Restrepo

Sitting at home alone looking back on old pictures, laughing to myself remembering the good times made me miss a lot of things.  It made me miss my close friends and all the stupid things we used to do.  Also always having that one person to tell secrets to and make sure I have that one persons shoulder to cry on.  My friends make me the person I am today.  In the summer going to the pool we had such fun times and cruising down the street with our windows down blaring country music.  It was definitely a time period that I wouldn't forget. With school coming to end my friends and I had so many ideas to do over the summer and we were all so excited.  Talking about all these plans made the final school days go by incredibly fast and we ended up on the last day of school, me and my best friend together.

Rhetorical Precis

This is a documentary written by David Brooks is called Becoming a Real Person.  Brooks supports his thesis through data collected in an experiment.  He is trying to inform the reader while simultaneously trying to enforce his opinion on a certain topic to the reader.  Brooks uses proper English to send out the message to young adults.

Lamp Shade

The lamp shade may seem boring but it resembles life in a large way. Its like the outside of someones body and on the inside is something that nobody normally sees because the want to be hidden.  A person can have a complete different personality on the outside than they do on the inside.  Its exactly like when the light gets turned on but its not completely bright because the shade is covering it.  A person wishes to show themselves completely but can always be anxious. That is why I think a lamp shade can symbolize life well.

Life

In my mind, the little things in life overpower everything else.  Ever since I was little, my parents raised me to be appreciative and thankful.  There are quite a few people out there that are selfish, and self centered, and always put themselves before others.  It never made sense to me how there are ungrateful and needy people in the world.  My family and I, each year around Christmas time, always go shopping for the homeless and drop off necessities that any human needs to survive at their home.  It made us feel good to be doing something right and put a smile on someone else's face.  It doesn't take a lot of effort to do something right, and something that will not only benefit yourself, but others as well.  In my mind it was small and almost seemed like no big deal, but to see the reaction and to see the person that is receiving light up is an amazing feeling to know that I made an impact on someone's life.  I volunteered to help out with cancer patients a year or two ago.  Yes, cancer is a big thing but once we got to interact with them, all their worries went away.  Even all of us thought it was no big deal and we didn't focus on the illness, we focused on the fun.  To most people we worry about other stupid things instead of the important ones and thats why taking time out of your day can make someones day so much brighter.
